Disposal Reason Codes

The Disposal Reason Codes frame allows you to create and maintain a list of codes used to identify the reason for disposing of a unit on the Unit Disposal frame. The Disposal Reason is a required field on Unit Disposal. These codes are user-defined so it is up to your organization how to best format them to suit your needs.

Create

To create a new Disposal Reason, click in the blank Disposal Reason field and type in a new code. This field has a limit of one character. Next type in a description for the new Disposal Reason. This field has a limit of 20 characters.

For example: A – Accident or E – End of Life or T – Totaled.

Once you have finished entering the information, click the Save button at the top of the frame and the new Disposal Reason Code will be available for use.

Modify

You can modify the description of an existing code as long as it is not disabled. If the code is disabled the Description field will be grayed out. You cannot modify the Disposal Reason Code once it has been created and saved.

To change the description of an existing code, click in the Description field and type the new description over the existing one. Click Save to update the record.

Disable

To disable a Disposal Reason, check the Disabled box in the row of the code you want to disable. Click the Save button. The code will no longer be available for use.

Delete

You can delete a Disposal Reason provided it is not in use anywhere in the system. Otherwise you will only be able to disable the code.

To delete a Disposal Reason, click in the row of the code you want to delete to make it active. Click the Delete button (Red X). The selected row will turn red. Click the Save button and the record will be removed from the list and will no longer be available for use in the system.
