System Flags

The System Flags frame allows you to view and manage the collection of System Flags that control numerous critical operating functions and system processes in your M5 System. These switches or System Flags serve as a primary reference point directing the system modules to perform according to their specific settings.

Each flag has a default setting and is reviewed with the implementation project team carefully so that you will fully understand the effect of each setting. AssetWorks will make recommendations based on common business practices after a thorough Business Process Review of your fleet environment in order to ensure that your system functions accurately.

As your experience with the system grows you may find it necessary to review the System Flag settings. Occasionally new functionality is introduced as our system development efforts continue. New flags are added as well as new privileges that must be configured to achieve performance under new modules. Changes should only be made by qualified administrators after a careful review and discussion with the M5 Support Team.

To review a system flag enter the flag value or double-click in the field to select one. Press tab or enter. The description will appear showing the System Module, Format, M5 Release, Default Value and current User Value. A lengthy Notes area is also shown.  Read them carefully.

You may enter a new User Value if desired, however certain flags are 'locked' and cannot be changed via this frame. Please consult M5 Support or your Project Manager before making any changes to locked flags via the database. These flags are locked for a reason, changes in their values could have far reaching impacts across your system. They should not be changed without careful planning and consideration.

Keep careful records of any changes you make and test the effect of those changes on the functionality involved. Make sure your changes had the anticipated impact.

For a full review of all System Flags please see System Flags Table.
