Replacement Model Prioritization

The second step after the Replacement Model has been created, is the Replacement Model Prioritization. On this frame you can select and define the replacement factors for your replacement model. There are a total of eleven factors to choose from.

Select Replacement Factors

To select a factor, enter a weighted value in the Weight field for each replacement factor you want to include in your model. The value entered in this field represents the percentage, out of 100, that the factor will have in the calculation for the unit’s Priority Ranking on the Replacement Model Candidates frame.

As an example, you may want to use the units’ Age (Months in Service), LTD Repairs, Maintenance Cost Per Use, and Condition as your factors. For your organization, two most important of the four factors may be Age and Condition, so you might want to weight each at 30%. Then you could weigh LTD Repairs at 25% and Maintenance Cost Per Use at 15% for a total of 100%.

It is up to you to decide which factors to include and what value (%) to assign them in the replacement model.  Once you have selected your factors and assigned them values, click the Save button.

Scores

The scores are calculated based on a factor multiplied by 100. If the resulting number is over 100, it is above average (worse) and if it is below 100 it is below average (better).

Once each score is calculated it is then weighted by the percentages/factors set on this frame. For a break down of how each is calculated, see below:

NOTE: The counts and averages on this frame will not be shown until you have generated the Replacement Model.

To move on to the Replacement Model Generation frame, click the Advance to the Next Step of the Replacement Model Generation (Blue Arrow) icon from the more options drop down to the right of the find button. This will move the model into a Prioritization status.

System Flags

5100 - Replacement Modeling Age Calculation Method (I/M) – When set to ‘I’, use the unit In-Service date when calculating age. When set to ‘M’, use the unit Manufacturer date when calculating age.
