Operational Class Codes are user defined codes used to classify the different types of equipment that will be tracked using the Unit Availability Module. A unit must have an Operational Class Code assigned to it on Unit Main to track it using Unit Availability.
This frame allows you to create and maintain a list of Operational Class Codes to assign to the different types of units in your fleet. For example, a garbage truck would be a different operational class than a pickup truck or a police cruiser.
Create
To create a new Operational Class Code, click in the blank Class field and type in the new code. This field has a limit of ten characters.
Next, type in a description. For example, in the Class field you could type ‘SUV’ and in the Description field ‘Sport Utility Vehicle’. This field has a limit of 30 characters.
Once you have entered a class code and description, click the Save button at the top of the frame. The code will now be available for use.
Modify
You can modify the descriptions of existing codes. Once a code has been created you will not be able to modify the Class field.
To edit the description, click in the Description field and type over the existing description. Click Save to update the record.
Disable
To disable a code, check the Disabled box in the row of the Operational Class Code you want to disable. Click Save. The code is now disable and will not be available for use.
If the code is already in use, you will not be able to disable it.
Delete
You can delete an Operational Class Code provided it is not in use anywhere in the system.
To delete a code, click in the row of the Operational Class Code you want to delete to make it active. Click the Delete Button at the top of the frame. The selected row will turn red. Click Save. The record will be removed.
System Flags
5482 - Clear Occupational Class Code Value When Disposing a Unit? (Y/N) - Setting this flag to N will stop the automatic removal of the operational class code when a unit has the Allow Sales Info (final disposal status) set to Yes on the Unit Status Codes screen. Any flagged status (no sales info allowed) will still function as before; meaning that the Operational Class Code will remain regardless of the flag setting.
