Part Failure Codes can be used on a part issue to identify how or why a previous part that was installed failed or malfunctioned.
To implement this functionality on Work Order Main, System Flag 5015 must be set to ‘Y.” See the System Flags section below for more information.
Create
To create a new code, click in the blank code field and type in the new code. This field has a limit of six characters.
Next, type in a description to indicate what the Part Failure Code means. This field has a limit of 20 characters.
For example, you could use BRAKE for the code and for the description something like BRAKE FAILURE.
Once you have completed the entry, click the Save button at the top of the frame.
These are user-defined codes so it is up to your organization how to format them to best suite your needs.
Modify
You can only modify the description of existing codes. Once a code has been created and saved, you cannot edit the code itself.
To modify a description, click in the Description field and type the new description over the existing one. Click the Save button to update the record.
Disable
To disable a Part Failure Code, check the Disabled box in the row of the code you want to disable. Click the Save button. The code will no longer be available for use.
Delete
You can delete a Part Failure Code provided it is not in use anywhere in the system. If the code is in use, you will not be able to delete it from the list.
To delete a code, click in the row of the code you want to delete to make it active. Click the Delete button (Red X) at the top of the frame. The selected row will turn red. Click the Save button and the record will be removed from the list and will no longer be available for use.
