Equipment Return Reasons

The Equipment Return Reasons frame allows you to create and maintain codes that indicate why a particular piece of equipment was returned. These codes are user-defined but can be used to flag a tool for removal from inventory to prevent further damage or injury.

Create

To create a new Equipment Return Reason, click in the blank code field and enter a new code. This field has a limit of six characters (alphanumeric). Enter in a description for the new code.

If you want the new code to be used as the default reason when returning equipment on the Equipment Check In frame, check the Default flag to the right of the Description field. This field has a limit of 20 characters (alphanumeric).

When finished, click the Save button at the top of the frame. The new Equipment Return Reason will now be available for use when checking in equipment.

Modify

You can modify the description of existing Equipment Return Reasons. To modify a description, click in the Description field and a type a new description over the existing one. You can also check or uncheck the Default flag, only one default flag can be set. Click Save to update the record.

Disable

To disable an Equipment Return Reason, check the Disabled flag in the row of the code you want to disable. Click the Save button.

Delete

You can delete a code provided it is not in use anywhere in the system. If the Equipment Return Reason is in use, you will not be able to delete it from the system.

To delete a return reason that is not in use, click in the row to make it active. Click the Delete button (Red X). The selected row will turn red. Click the Save button to delete the record.
