Vendor Service Codes

Vendor Service Codes can be used to define the type of service provided by a particular vendor. This frame allows you to create and maintain list of these codes that can be assigned to vendors on Vendor Main, Preferred Vendors, and for use on Service Orders as well as the Direct Invoice frames.

Create

To create a new Vendor Service Code, enter a new code in the blank Code field. This field has a limit of ten characters. Then, enter a description for the Service Code. This field has a limit of 30 characters.

For example: TOW – Towing, TIRE – Tire Repairs.

Next enter a Job Reason for use with Direct Invoicing. Only jobs that have the Direct Invoicing flag checked on the Job Reasons frame will be available for use. If System Flag 5330 is set to ‘Y’, the job reason will be required.

Then enter a Job Code and Indirect Account if applicable.

Once all information has been entered, click the save button at the top of the frame. The new Service Code will now be available for use.

Modify

To modify an existing code, click in the field you want to change and type in the new information. Click Save to update the record.

Once a code has been created and saved, the Code field will be read-only. You will not be able to modify that field.

Disable

If you want to disable a Service Code, check the Disabled box in the row of the code you want to disable. Click Save to disable the code.

Delete

You can delete a Service Code provided it is not in use by any other tables in the system. If the code is in use, you will not be able to delete it from the list.

To delete a code that is not in use, click in the row of the code you want to delete to make it active. Click the Delete button (Red X). The selected row will turn red. Click the Save button to delete the Service Code and remove it from the system.

System Flags

5330 – Require a Job Reason on Vendor Service Codes? (Y/N) – If this flag is set to ‘Y’, a job reason will be required on Vendor Service Codes.
